If you were to look into my eyes, you'd find me; look into my heart and you'd find you. And, that's where you'll always stay.
As per the norm, save your retinas: click here for a version on a black background, where you'll see shadow detail that us landscape photographers strive so hard to achieve, but, are then let down by garish colour schemes on sites such as this one with retina-burning bright backgrounds.
As you can probably tell from the text above, this is a very personal work and means more to me than anyone could possibly imagine; the image is a metaphor. I put my whole into every image I make, and, this is no exception. It's funny, though; you'd be forgiven for thinking that photographs which have the most post-processing or labour put into them are ones that are near and dear to the photographer's heart -- this image had hardly any work done to it other than a sepia tone conversion in Canon's mighty Digital Photo Professional.
I feel it's one of my finest images to date.
Canon EOS 5D Mark II, Canon EF 17-40mm f/4L USM 4s f/16.0 at 40.0mm iso100
As this is one of my favourites of your images and due to it being a personal favourite of your own, I thought I would write a Critique.
I like the uniqueness of the composition, the bush has perfectly framed the image, without looking out of place or overpowering the subject
The exposure is spot on, you have managed to hold the detail in the framing bush, while not blowing out all the detail in the waterfall. This is especially apparent when you look at the photo on your website on the black background, rather that DA's bright one.
If I was to fault one thing in this image it would be the very dark bush to the left hand side (tree trunk?) This black area is slightly distracting to my eye. In saying this however, it appears that framing this shot to exclude this area would have been detrimental to the overall composition.
While this probably wont be your most faved image due to it not being as eye capturing from its thumb nail as a colourful sunset, I do think it is one of my top favourites due to its subtly of tones, detail and composition.
I totally agree with ~Niv24 - great image. Really is magnificent the way you have it here.
If it was mine, my only change would be to burn in the other 3 edges some to slightly come near the density of the black on the left side, and tweak curves to bring the water closer to a purer white, ala Zone 2.

Great work!
