Arc de Triomphe - Paris

Description

Well, I can't believe I'm doing this -- you guys have twisted my arm. So, here it is -- a terrestrial image amongst all my astrophotography.

I shot this whilst I was in Paris, earlier this year.

I loved Paris so much, and could imagine myself moving there to live.

One of the things which really blew me away about Paris, and in actuality, most of Europe, was the efficiency of their metro systems. I thought Sydney had a good train system. Boy, was I wrong. Well, to be fair, Sydney did have a good train system, until late 2005.

I think I came back to this location three times, each time, telling myself that I would brazenly cross the road and play chicken with the chaotic traffic. But, I didn't. Walking up the spiral staircase, I had to pinch myself to remind myself that I was actually in another city, in another country, far away from home. I remember spending about an hour up there, walking from face-to-face, looking out and staring at this remarkable city. It was a surreal experience.

I hope I have done this majestic landmark some kind of artistic justice.

Please ignore the misleading timestamp in the EXIF information; I forgot to set my camera's time correctly. If you're really interested, just subtract 8 hours off the stated time.

Full view is highly recommended.

As with my astrophotography, comments and critique are most welcome.

Oh my lord. This photograph is incredible. I don't know why it looks so... did you do something to this photo? The colour and texture quality is mind-bogglingly awesome. Definitely worthy of being in the same gallery as your astrophotography.
